The Time Paradox by Zimbardo and Boyd

The Time Paradox by Phillip Zimbardo and John Boyd provides helpful information about determining the best time perspective for each situation. The negative future time perspective of juvenile delinquents helps explain the failure of the DARE program to effect a change in behavior for disaffected youth.

The ability of doctors to spend more time with patients dramatically reduces the likelihood of malpractice lawsuits irrespective of the technical competence of the doctor.  I applied this to my ergonomic consulting and significantly reduced complaints about not doing a thorough evaluation.  An interesting study placed elderly people in environments that were similar to those when they were growing up. Both health and psychological well being improved for this group.
