The authors provide a wide array of influence strategies to solve some of the most intractable problems society faces. The authors discuss the successful rehabilitation of gang members and drug addicts in San Francisco through a program that receives no Federal funding.
The elimination of the 2,500 year old Guinea Worm problem by the Carter Foundation is also used to illustrate techniques to influence behavior change. The authors advocate identifying vital behaviors and making changes to the environment to address the problem. They do not recommend a single magic bullet but a systematic approach to apply significant horse power to create change. This book is an excellent complement to the book Switch.
